Chronicles from the North PART 2

Welcome, Adventurers, to Chronicles from the North. This week, we proudly introduce the first of our Heroes: Seigen of the Keshobarai!
LORE
Seigen is a disgraced noble from the northern reaches of the Soga Empire. Betrayed and exiled, he forged a new identity through rigorous martial training, earning his place among the Keshobarai—the imperial monster hunters. It was as part of the Keshobarai that he joined the expedition to thwart the Onis. Read more about Seigen here.
PROFILE CHARACTERSTUCS AND PLAYSTYLE
Level I Profile
Seigen’s initial profile clearly defines his role on the battlefield. With subpar mobility but impressively high ARM and HP, he’s built to absorb hits and protect his comrades using his Protector ability. His Fencing Level IV ensures he’s not merely a punching bag, allowing him to deal respectable damage. Additionally, his Ranger Class gives him a chance to reposition at the end of the turn. Overall, his stats are well-rounded, with no glaring weaknesses.
Level II Profile
At Level II, Seigen significantly ups his defensive game. With the addition of the Sentinel Class, Vigilance, and Impede, he becomes exceptionally reliable in Confrontation—whether in the active or reactive turn. He excels in one-on-one duels, even against larger opponents, solidifying his role as the main tank. However, he may struggle in ranged engagements, and while his damage output depends on his equipment, it’s not his primary strength.
Level III Profile
In his final evolution, Seigen truly becomes the ultimate defensive duelist, boasting an impressive OFF and DEF of 16, and gaining Finishing Strike to bolster his damage potential. Level III Seigen can hold his own against the toughest foes on the frozen mountain; he might not always finish them off, but he’ll ensure they don’t get the upper hand.
That said, Seigen has both light and dark lvl III Profile variants. These can be chosen instead of the default lvl 3 profile if you accumulate enough light/dark Fates. But we’re keeping the Light and Dark variants of the Level III profile under wraps for now—consider it a teaser for what’s to come when the game launches!
UPGRADES AND SYNERGY CARDS
While we can’t list every available Upgrade and Synergy card, here are some key pointers for Seigen’s build. Your primary decision will be whether to focus on increasing his damage or his protection. This choice influences your weapon selection—opting for his signature Nagamaki as a two-handed weapon, or a sword and shield combination, for example. A ranged option is also viable, as his ACC steadily improves with each level. Consumables like grenades can also provide extra ranged firepower, crucial since he often leads the frontline. In general, look for Upgrades that boost both his survivability and damage output.
For Synergy cards, prioritize those that compliment Seigen’s durability at the front—since he’s the one absorbing enemy fire. Typically, defense-oriented Synergy cards work best, but you can also build a brutal finisher around his high STK and solid combat stats.
CONCLUDING THOUGHTS
Seigen is your quintessential tank—a model built to charge into battle, take the hits, and dish out punishment in return. While he might lack flash, his vital role is undeniable. With the right support from your team and a few carefully chosen Upgrades and Synergy cards, he can evolve into a true combat monster. Ultimately, his toolkit is designed for brawling, so build your list with models that complement his strengths.
Enjoy the challenge, and let Seigen lead the charge into glorious combat!
