Chronicles from the North PART 6

Welcome back to Chronicles from the North, where we explore the many facets of the upcoming Northern Wind stand-alone expansion. Today, we continue our deep dive into the Heroes of the campaign with a closer look at the one-eyed bag of tricks himself—Tharos!
LORE
Tharos’ life was shaped by loss and survival. Orphaned young, he was raised in the Alchemists Guild of Tanis until a rival guild destroyed his home. Forced into servitude under those who had murdered his kin, he grew up in the shadows of the city, a reluctant mercenary. But when he was betrayed and left for dead, he saw his chance to escape. He found sanctuary with the Rangers Guild, where he learned to track, hunt, and live with honor.

PROFILE CHARACTERISTICS AND PLAYSTYLE
Level I
Tharos starts off as a versatile all-rounder. With solid stats, particularly high ACC and AG, he’s ready to take on multiple roles. But what really sets him apart is his SPD 3 and Climbing, giving him unmatched mobility and letting him reach tricky objectives or reposition with ease. He also has Assassination I, adding some sting to his offensive potential.

Level II
At this level, Tharos comes into his own. He gains a much-needed second HP, but the real highlights are Snipe and Assassination II, transforming him into a ranged combat specialist. He can pick off enemies even while they’re locked in combat—no pesky modifiers to worry about. The cherry on top? He gains the Alchemist Class, which lets him replenish one spent consumable per round. Firecrackers, haze bombs, buffs—you name it. Tharos becomes a walking trick bag.
Level III
Tharos doesn’t shift roles dramatically here but becomes much better at what he does. His stats improve, Assassination III further boosts his lethality, and Stealth II grants him Shrouded, letting him sneak past enemies or strike from the shadows for bonus damage. He becomes a mobile first-strike expert, slipping in and out of danger with deadly precision.

ITEMS AND SYNERGIES
Tharos comes with a unique Upgrade, Batu, his loyal star hawk. Batu grants Clairvoyance, allowing Tharos to target enemies outside Line of Sight and ignore Hazy terrain—which pairs perfectly with the haze bombs he can restock every round.
He thrives with ranged weapons—short bows, crossbows, anything that lets him rain down pain from a distance. Though he can wield melee weapons too, his bread and butter lies in positioning and picking off key threats. With his large inventory, you’ll want to equip a variety of consumables to keep your options open.
In terms of Synergy cards, Tharos is a classic payoff piece. His high PW and ranged positioning make him perfect for delivering heavy-hitting effects while remaining out of danger. He’s the finisher your team needs.
CONCLUDING THOUGHTS
Tharos is your go-to mobile long-range damage dealer. He’s fast, terrain-agnostic, and capable of staying one step ahead of the enemy. With the Alchemist Class, he brings adaptability, letting you solve problems with the right item at the right time.
He’s a powerful mix of consistent, reliable ranged damage and sneaky utility—perfect for players who like to outmaneuver, outthink, and outgun their opponents.
