CHRONICLES OF TACTICA II CLAN CHAMPION
Welcome back to Chronicles of Tactica, an article series where we take a closer look at individual models in the Eldfall Chronicles range and how to use them on the tabletop. Today, we begin our deep dives with the Empire of Soga and take a closer look at their currently most ideal leader option, the Clan Champion!
PROFILE CHARACTERISTICS & PLAYSTYLE
The Clan Champion is an expensive model with a Recruitment Cost set at 23 points and limited to only one per list. However, the model brings a lot to the table for that price. Starting with classes, the Champion has the Warrior class, allowing the model to maneuver effortlessly between strong active and reactive turns. Additionally, as an Armsmaster, the Champion adds +1 STK in the active turn, increasing offensive output. This is perfectly paired with an exceptionally high OFF, moderate DEF, and Fencing Combat Art level 4. All this combined creates a powerful combatant, capable of winning most duels in the game. But the Clan Champion’s impressive stats don’t stop there. With 5 ARM and 3 HP, it is also one of the most resilient models currently in the game, allowing you to play aggressively and use your combat expertise.
Regarding the weapons the model has in the Inventory, a spear for long reach, a sword for backup (for when you’ve thrown your spear), and an armor-piercing dagger create a blend of capabilities to handle any situation.
On the field, the Clan Champion is a perfect front-line leader. A mobile tank, that can easily adapt to situations and bring an arsenal and attacks to bear, maximizing your chances of victory. Typically, you want to use the model far up the field where he can pressure opponents’ positions just by being there, threatening to rush in with a Dash. This playstyle is supported by Champion’s resilience, allowing for a couple of daring Dashes through enemy fire.
LEADER & STRATAGEMS
As a leader, the Clan Champion gets access to four Strategems, all reflecting the model’s versatility. These Strategems affect all friendly models, each improving a specific aspect of the game as needed, whether it be more speed, courage, or better dodging. With these Strategems, the theme of adaptability for the Clan Champion continues as they enhance the versatility of your gameplay in response to the evolving situation on the field.

Lucky Charm is one of our first favorites, allowing you to push your luck even further, making the model both tankier and more lethal simultaneously. Choosing Bujutsu Expertise gives the 5th level of Fencing, allowing the model to ignore Armor, a strong plus in certain situations. Alternatively, all four of the Kassen Buki unique weapon Upgrades from the Empire of Soga improve his damage output, each in a different way, allowing you to tailor your Champion to taste.
The Clan Champion is the ultimate versatile fighter, excelling at controlling space and engaging in straightforward combat, though lacking any special flair beyond his amazing all-around stats.
