CHRONICLES FROM THE NORTH - PART 11

Welcome back to Chronicles from the North, where we take a deeper dive into various aspects of Northern Wind! Today, we’re examining the green baddie herself—Chanra, the Exiled Queen!

LORE

Hailing from the Silver Peak tribe, Chanra rose to power by defeating the previous, mad queen. The Silver Peak tribe wasn’t known for raiding, but for mining and trading, and they thrived under Chanra’s rule in the mines beneath Mt. Byodo. That changed one cold winter night, when the Oni descended and turned their wrath toward the goblin tribes. Many were exterminated, others subjugated. Though the Silver Peak resisted, they couldn’t withstand the Oni. Battered and broken, Chanra escaped—swearing to reunite the goblin tribes and bring ruin to the Oni.

PROFILE CHARACTERSTUCS AND PLAYSTYLE

Role:
Chanra is a unique and versatile hero who boasts above-average HP and defies the traditional spellcaster mold. Her spells don’t follow the norm either. While she has a smaller number of spells available during Quests, her ability to freshly select them before each Quest allows her to flex between a frontline damage dealer and a backline debuffing support.

Level I

Chanra’s Level I profile feels like a blank canvas—ready to become whatever you need. Her stats aren’t impressive across the board, but she has high Morale stat, which—thanks to her Mystic class—is her spellcasting stat. With 2 HP, she’s sturdier than most casters. But her real strength lies in Invocations – Upgrade cards that give her access to specific spells you choose. Though limited at first, choosing new ones before each Quest gives her a remarkable amount of flexibility.

Level II

At Level II, Chanra starts to shine. HP 3 on a spellcaster is almost unheard of. She gains Hit and Retreat, massively boosting her mobility. Most importantly, she unlocks Level II Incantations and can prepare more of them before each Quest. Her arsenal now includes powerful debuffs, damage spells, healing, and protection, both melee and ranged. How you use her is entirely up to you.

Level III

Level III brings a slight stat bump and a major mobility boost with Leap. But again, it’s her growing list of Incantations that’s the real power spike. With a wide selection at your disposal and access to high-impact spells like Fireball, you can tailor her for support or unleash her as a high-damage frontline bruiser. Without diving into too many spoilers, the Light and Dark variations let you specialize even further into one role or the other—one even allows you to bring a few goblins along for the ride.

UPGRADES AND SYNERGY CARDS

Chanra’s upgrade options are broad. Caster staffs can enhance her spellcasting, defensive gear can further reinforce her surprising durability, and even physical weapons aren’t off the table depending on your chosen playstyle. She’s adaptable and responsive to your needs.

Synergy cards follow suit. If you want her as a support-focused caster, there are several backline setup Synergies that fit beautifully. But give her some payoff Synergies, and she can be transformed into a tanky spell-slinger dishing out brutal blows.

CONCLUDING THOUGHTS

Chanra is another highly flexible Hero, one who shifts comfortably between support and damage roles—anchored by high survivability and decent mobility. Whether you lean into her resilience and set up the perfect spell combos or push her to the frontlines to drop massive damage, she rewards players who enjoy adjusting their tactics between games and picking the right tools for every challenge.
