Slayer Dragoon
Slayer Dragoons of Thenion
In service to a Matriarch, the Slayer Dragoons act as royal scouts and elite lookouts, assigned to patrol the cavernous fringes of the Thenian underworld. However, they are most often encountered above ground—riding across the volatile surface of Thenion, where their true calling unfolds.
Each Slayer Dragoon represents the pinnacle of reconnaissance and monster-hunting expertise, frequently deployed on special missions that demand precision, courage, and overwhelming force. Their signature lies in the oversized weapons they wield—arms designed not for skirmishes, but for felling great beasts. These weapons are rarely suited for ordinary combat, a reflection of their chosen prey and singular role.
Though they travel alone or in small bands, a Slayer Dragoon is never far from their mount—the formidable Lupus Rex, a creature perfectly attuned to the volcanic terrain that defines much of Thenion’s surface.
It is not uncommon for some Slayer Dragoons to leave royal service and strike out into faraway lands. Their reputation ensures that they are in constant demand, particularly among the ranks of the Adventurers’ Guild, where their skills in tracking, survival, and beast extermination are always prized.
Lupus Rex
The Lupus Rex, or great wolfcat, is a large, strikingly adaptive predator and a proud member of the Felicanidae family. Though it bears features of both large feline predators and wolf-like canines native to both the Thenian and Helian continents, it is a pure species, not a hybrid, as commonly believed.
Renowned for its adaptability, the Lupus Rex alters in appearance depending on climate: in warmer regions, it sports thinner fur and larger ears for cooling, while in colder environments, its coat thickens and its ears shrink to conserve warmth. Its fur patterns and hues also shift with environment—on Thenion, it bears blueish tones, while on Helion, warmer or greenish tinges are more common.
Beyond its practical uses as a specialized mount, the Lupus Rex is widely beloved by the Thenian people. It is known for its loyalty, high intelligence, and deep affection for the Rin, often serving not only as a beast of burden but as a cherished companion and symbol of nobility.
