Expatriates are helrin that disturbed the moral principles of the helian society, and are thus facing exile from the cities, forced to live elsewhere or in the helian colonies. They can be anyone; an elite noble, who undertook devious affairs, or a peasant, who distressed family matters. If they wish to redeem themselves, they must survive in the wilderness beyond the walls of the helian cities. They explore it, map it, report back about changes or discoveries, and have to pacify frictions among the indigenous tribes, especially among the more hostile androtauri and hippomachi*. Expatriates can as well achieve a great feat for the Helian League, redeeming themselves in this way. Of course, many do not want to ever return, instead they lead new lives far away from their past.
