Golem
Golems are most commonly fashioned from earth and clay, though more costly variants may be formed from metal or other enchanted materials. Like all earthen constructs, a golem is brought into being by binding matter around a magical core known as a soulstone. Typically housed within the head, this arcane heart animates the construct and directs its actions. It is also, conveniently for those tasked with destroying one, its primary weakness.
Wild golems occasionally form near mana ruptures or in places saturated with unstable magic, though such occurrences are rare. The vast majority are artificial creations, shaped through practiced spellwork and careful craftsmanship.
Their simple construction and considerable durability have made golems a common sight throughout the Sand Kingdoms. They serve alongside soldiers in garrisons, but are just as frequently employed as laborers or guards in everyday life. Their appearance and capabilities vary greatly according to the purpose for which they were made and the skill of the summoner responsible.
Note: Construct: An artificial creature imbued with mana, most commonly crafted by the arcane artisans known as summoners, particularly those of the Sand Kingdoms. Constructs are not sentient.
