There are Rin born with no attunement to mana—beings severed from its flow, resistant to its pull, and largely impervious to magical harm. In ancient times, such individuals were feared and shunned, seen as unnatural, perhaps even cursed. But when the Age of Dusk descended and the spread of profane mana began corrupting the world, it was they alone who stood unaffected.
In time, the stigma gave way to reverence. These rare souls came to be honored as the “Chosen of Hiperia,” bearing the sacred mantle of the “Shield of the Helrin.”
Today, they serve as the unbreakable core of Heliopolis’s defense, stationed primarily in and around the Citadel. Trained in the relentless martial disciplines of the Haironian tradition, they embody precision, resilience, and unquestionable loyalty. Once their training is complete, they rise above the bounds of faction and Order, pledging fealty solely to their designated lord within the High Council.
Their numbers are few, but their presence is priceless—one can only hope to stand under their protection when calamity strikes.
Heavily armed, nearly immune to magic, and trained with absolute rigor, Citadel Guards are sometimes dispatched beyond the capital. They may be assigned to critical expeditions, or tasked with guarding individuals of immense political or spiritual significance.
