Season 2 - Announcement and Balance Changes

Greetings, Adventurers!

Today we have some exciting news to share. We are happy to announce the beginning of our Second Competitive Season, which will run from July 1, 2026, to July 1, 2027!

The new season brings a number of exciting updates. All of them will become available on July 1, 2026.

First, we have a rebalance, which we'll cover in detail later in this article. In Season 2, we will be also updating and expanding the selection of competitive quests by introducing four brand-new Quests while refreshing the five fan favorites from Season 1. Last but not least, we're introducing the Monster Faction Schemes chart and deck, allowing you to play Monsters with their own Schemes.

To report your events and have them count toward the Competitive Season, you'll need to report your tournament through Longshanks (https://eldfall.longshanks.org/). At the end of the season, both the highest-ranked player and the most active community will receive unique commemorative rewards.

Good luck to everyone competing this year!

Now, let's take a look at the rebalance.

Design Goals

Before we dive into the individual changes, we'd like to explain the goals behind this rebalance.

Looking at the competitive results from the first season, faction-to-faction balance is in a very healthy place. Only the Oni Clans fell outside our target win rate range of 45%–55%, meaning broad faction balance required very little adjustment.

Instead, this update focuses primarily on internal faction balance. Our goal is to slightly adjust the efficiency of a handful of overperforming models while improving underused ones, giving players more meaningful choices during list building.

It's also worth noting that this update does not include wording changes or rules clarifications. Those belong in an Errata. Today's update focuses solely on profile adjustments, including statistics, abilities, and point costs.

With that out of the way, let's get started.

General Changes

Shields

We're removing the -1 STK penalty for using a shield together with a weapon that has RCH greater than 0.

This proved to be an unnecessary corner case, so the penalty has been removed from the Citadel Guard, Guildsworn Knight, and Bonewalkers.

Oni Clans

Blue Rasetsu

Mind Invasion now reads:

  • One enemy model within Awareness must perform an INT-3 roll. On a failure, it gains the Confused state until your next Strategic Phase.

Blue Rasetsu's point cost increases by 2 (now 37 rpts).

Blue Yaksha

Blue Yaksha loses Advantage (Medium).

The Oni were the strongest-performing faction throughout the season, largely thanks to the Blue Clan.

Mind Invasion often created frustrating gameplay because of its high variance and ability to affect multiple opponents. The new version is more consistent while reducing its maximum impact.

Blue Rasetsu also receives a slight point increase, as he remains one of the most versatile all-rounders in the game.

Similarly, Blue Yaksha's combination of OFF 15, STK 3, and Advantage against most opponents made her attacks almost guaranteed to secure a kill. Removing Advantage makes her slightly less explosive while rewarding good positioning.

These changes specifically target the popular list featuring Blue Rasetsu, Blue Yaksha, and two Undead, which proved just a little too efficient.

Goblin Wartribes

Goblin Brawlers

Toughness increases by 2 (now T 12).

Brawlers were often overshadowed by Goblin Skirmishers. Increasing their Toughness improves both their melee threat and their chances of recovering from the Incapacitated state, helping define them as the stronger frontline option.

Coalition of Thenion

Night Temple Priestess

Point cost reduced by 1 (now 21 rpts).

Coalition roster building has always been fairly tight, and paying nearly the same cost as a Nightshade for a fragile 1 HP support model felt too restrictive. This small reduction should ease that pressure without significantly affecting overall faction balance.

Empire of Soga

Musha Bowmaster

Point cost increased by 2 (now 19 rpts).

As one of the few remaining sources of reliable ranged Stagger, the Bowmaster consistently outperformed his Blademaster counterpart. While 19 points is a noticeable investment, we feel it better reflects the model's battlefield impact.

Helian League

Citadel Guard

Gains Follow-up. Inventory increased by 2. Point cost reduced by 1 (now 18 rpts).

Helrin Expatriate

Art of Enchanting increases from Level I to Level II.

The Citadel Guard is one of the oldest profiles in the game, and it shows. Limited mobility and difficulty keeping enemies engaged often relegated her to a purely Protector role.

Adding Follow-up and expanding her Inventory allows her to take longer-reaching weapons and better maintain pressure on opponents. Combined with a slight point reduction, we hope she'll once again become the slow but terrifying frontline fighter she was always meant to be.

Likewise, the Helrin Expatriate gradually lost some of its appeal following earlier updates. Leveling up its Art of Enchanting improves its utility and opens up more interesting support options.

Sand Kingdoms

Spelldancer Aeroturge

Point cost reduced by 2 (now 15 rpts).

The Aeroturge is the definition of a dedicated support model, with virtually no offensive capabilities beyond RCH 0. Because of this, its previous point cost often made her difficult to justify including. We hope this reduction makes Aeroturges a more attractive option.

Neutral

Amazon Gladiatrix

The 7-point increase introduced during Season 1 remains in effect, bringing her to 32 rpts. This simply formalizes the balance adjustment that has already been in use throughout the season.

And that's it! Every balance change coming with Competitive Season 2!

These updates become official and will be reflected in the Guild Hall on July 1, 2026.

As always, we'd love to hear your thoughts, so join the discussion on Discord.

In our next article, we'll take one final look back at Season 1, before diving into the brand-new competitive quests.

Until then…

Happy adventuring!
